We begin with an initial consultations wihc describes the philosophy of the program and determines student and family needs. The initial consultation is always free of charge.
“Optimizing High School Years” Package
For the 8th grade student who wants to ensure he/she gets the most out of their high school experience and to help them make the best decisions to improve their college options. Consultations include:
- Selection of high school courses.
- Decision regarding AP classes.
- Importance of extra-curricular activities and volunteerism, which ones and how involved.
- Discuss summer opportunities.
“Early Start” College Preparation Package
This package is designed for Freshman or Sophomores who are interested in highly competitive or selective colleges and want a head start on the admission’s process. Consultations include:
- Review academic record and extracurricular performance for strengths and weaknesses and make suggestions on how to improve.
- Referrals to tutors for academic advising and testing preparation.
- Defining values and goals related to college selection.
- Developing a roadmap of coursework and testing – we help to manage this timeline process so that your student does not have missed opportunities.
- Working with the student to make appropriate decisions that enhance their background and improve their appeal to selective colleges. (course selection, extra-curricular involvement, summer activities).
- Planning how and when to begin the college selection process.
“Admissions Coaching” Package
This package is designed for Juniors or Seniors who have some understanding of the admissions process and have already developed their list of potential colleges. These students are typically seeking specific guidance on certain steps in the admissions process. Consultations may include:
- Helping schedule college visits and tips to ensure productive visits.
- Developing a brag sheet that differentiates the student from others.
- Review of college applications to ensure the student is putting his best foot forward.
- Input on who to ask for letters recommendation and how to get the best letters of recommendation.
- Mock interviewing to prepare for college interviews.
- Researching scholarships and financial aid.
- Brainstorming essay ideas.
- Reviewing essay drafts and provided feedback.
- Assistance in narrowing the final college list.
- Evaluating acceptance offers.
“Comprehensive” College Planning Package
For the 11th or 12th grade student who wants to develop a solid admissions strategy. We manage the entire process. Consultations include:
- A personal college planner and calendar to keep the student on track - a timetable for the college search process with specific dates and tasks to include testing schedule, application deadlines, college visitations schedules, college open houses and decision timetable.
- Review academic record and extracurricular performance for strengths and weaknesses and make suggestions on how to improve.
- Strategic planning to enhance credentials, improve academic and extra-curricular profile and ameliorate weaknesses.
- Clarifying values and goals related to college selection.
- Referrals to tutors for academic advising and testing preparation.
- Creating a college list based upon our research of colleges and the student’s profile and preferences as it relates to college major, interest in combined college/graduate programs (e.g., B.A./M.D., B.A./J.D).
- Helping schedule college visits and tips to ensure productive visits.
- Developing a brag sheet that differentiates the student from others.
- Review of college applications to ensure the student is putting his best foot forward.
- Input on who to ask for letters recommendation and how to get the best letters of recommendation

- Mentoring of student through application package preparation and essay development.
- Brainstorming essay ideas.

“Senior Intensive” College Planning Package
- This package is designed for those getting a late start on the college planning process.
"Kick Start"
- Give your student the benefit of guidance during their first semester at college.
- Each week your student will receive an e-mail with tips and reminders to help him/her succeed at college.
- Topics will include reminders such as reread class syllabus, be sure to keep up with reading, don't skip classes, study for mid-terms and finals, find a good study buddy and also time management tips.
- Each e-mail is tailored for the appropriate time of the semester.
Hourly Rates
A good options for the student who knows where he wants to go to college but needs help with specific tasks – application review, essay brainstorming and review, interview preparation, scholarship or financial aid applications. Also an excellent option for students who are transferring from another a college and want to find the “right” fit this time.
Fees
You will find our services to be affordable for the in-depth personalized consultations and advice that we provide. Past clients have chosen services ranging from $150 to $2,400. Please call or email us for a list of our fees. We look forward to personally working with you.
Services We do Not Provide
Pathway to College Consultants believe that the student should be judged on his/her own merit based upon the quality of their academic performance, essays, test scores, personal achievements, and community contributions. Therefore, in accordance with the strict rules of The Principles of Good Practice which all IECA and HECA members adhere to, there are a few things that we cannot and will not do. Specifically, they are:
- Write or substantially revise application essays.
- Knowingly misrepresent a client's credentials.
- Accept compensation based on offers of admission.
- Lobby admissions officers in behalf of candidates.
- Promise any form of financial aid or scholarships.
- Guarantee admission to any institution.
