The Process

Self Realization

We have many tools and questionnaires to help the student figure out who they are, where their interest lie, and to identify their strengths and weaknesses.

Preparation for College

Tips on what students should be doing during their junior high and high school years (starting as early as 8th grade) to prepare them for college and increase their chances of being accepted into the college of their choice.

College Match

Once we understand the student’s values, priorities and desires, we are able to work with the student to formulate a list of potential colleges where he/she will likely prosper. Finding a good match for the student is a very important step. Less than 50% of college freshmen will graduate from the same college where they start. This is primarily due to a poor match. We have visited and researched many universities, spoken with faculty/staff and students and have a good feel for the culture of these universities.

  • There is no one college for everyone.
  • There is more than one ideal college for each person and together we can uncover the best fits.
  • Fit is more important than college rank or prestige of the university.   The student will succeed at the college/university that meets their needs, offers courses that peak their interest and where students posses similar values and interests.

Admissions Process

What are the steps to ensuring acceptance to the college of your choice?

  • We help to develop an admissions strategy to optimize the student’s chances of success and ultimately acceptance to the college of their dreams.
  • We develop a detailed process with deadlines and next steps to keep the student on track.
  • We help the student develop a “brag sheet” that can be used to complete a compelling college application and to provide those writing references. We work with the student to highlight their strengths and negate or at least mitigate their weaknesses.
  • We help finalize an application package that puts the student’s best foot forward.
  • We provide guidance on who to ask for letters of recommendation and what to ask them to write
  • We help brainstorm compelling essay topics.
  • We review essay drafts and provide feedback.
  • We help the student prepare for college visits to ensure that they are productive and give them tips on how to use the visit to increase their chance of admission.
  • We conduct mock interviews to help the student to prepare for admissions interviews.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

  • We can help the student find options for financial aid and scholarships.
  • We help the student with scholarship essays.

Post Admissions

  • We help the student make final decisions on schools from which they are accepted.
  • We help the student prepare for the transition to college.

Kick Start

  • Give your student the benefit of guidance during their first semester at college.
  • Each week your student will receive an e-mail with tips and reminders to help him/her succeed at college.
  • Topics will include reminders such as reread class syllabus, be sure to keep up with reading, don't skip classes, study for mid-terms and finals, find a good study buddy and also time management tips.
  • Each e-mail is tailored for the appropriate time of the semester.
